Five Nights At Freddy's Movie Confirmed For October Release

After going viral nearly a decade ago, indie horror hit Five Nights At Freddy's will brings its animatronic atrocities to the big screen. Blumhouse has confirmed the franchise's motion picture debut will be released October 27 both in theaters and streaming on Peacock.

The film will follow a lone security guard tasked with watching over Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a Chuck-E.-Cheese-style restaurant featuring massive animatronic animals, a plot which echoes the premise of the original. The franchise's creator, Scott Cawthon, is co-writing the movie adaptation, with Seth Cuddeback (Kelp) and the film's director Emma Tammi (The Wind) listed as co-writers.

The official release also confirmed multiple members of the cast, which so far is as follows:

Five Nights At Freddy's first launched in August 2014 and became a viral hit due to its unique jumpscare-heavy point-and-click gameplay. The series has since produced eight core video game entries, multiple spin off games, and a variety of books ranging from novels to short story compilations.

The most recent video game release, Five Nights At Freddy's: Security Breach, launched in December 2021. The game moved away from the point-and-click gameplay of previous entries, and it instead became an action game where players explored a massive Freddy-themed restaurant and arcade.
