Street Fighter 6 Review- (PS5)

"I can still remember when SFV released and people were raging mad at there being so little to the game upon release. Looking back, it was a little lackluster on release day. Soon after, SFV came to be the king of all SF's in my opinion with over 40 characters to choose from and many separate modes to go along with it. I think it is safe to say that now, even the great SFV has been de-throned for a new SF champ in SF6!"

"For starters, SF6 has a new look, a mixture of splash art graffiti, and spray canned bright colors that splash on the screen when you land certain special moves. It has never been this dynamic in the midst of battle as it does here. But of course, the most important aspect of this new Street Fighter also has received a major improvement and that is the actual fighting. Now, the fights are fluid, and flow like the wind. Hard hits have impact and oomph to them, and Capcom has even simplified things by allowing 3 different fighting control schemes. The first is Classic, which is as the name suggests, classic SF. The second is Modern, which allows even newbies to be successful at pulling off the hardest moves to master on Classic. It makes combos easier, special arts easier, and fighting without a fight stick easier in general. Dynamic is the 3rd, and this allows the AI to assist you in pulling off moves that may prove too difficult on Classic setup. These 3 styles also carry over to the training modes, which are even more in depth and descriptive than ever before. Capcom has painstakingly gone out of their way to make this Street Fighter a game for all fans, whether they are playing Street Fighter for the first time in their lives or diehards. This is in my opinion a very good thing."

"The World Tour Mode is also here. In it, you can create your own personal avatar, and complete RPG-like quests and unlock gear and apparel. You bounce from place to place and undergo training from classic SF characters. While the World Tour mode has its headaches and grinds, it is cool that you can customize your own character pretty much to a T, mixing and matching different characters moves as much as you like to fit your personal tastes. The quests are mostly fetch type quests and become a bore early on, but it is still a welcome change to the formula."

"The Arcade Mode is back of course and is a hit in my book. Each of the characters has their own little comic-book story that sees them fighting their way up the ladder. It is always one of the best single player modes on any SF game. The main suspects such as Ryu, Ken, Zangief, E. Honda, Blanka, Dhalsim & Chun-Li are all here. The new characters too all each have their own backgrounds and each one feels like they truly belong in this game. Marisa, the pankcration-style Gladiator pummels foes into dust with her hammer-like punches. Then there is the ballet dancing Manon, who uses her tip-toeing skills to gracefully dash across the arena and lash out some amazing throws. Jamie, the Drunken-Style boxer, takes swigs of his booze in between kicks and punches and each drink sees him power up his moves and let his hair down. Even Lily, the small Mexican girl with huge clubs feels like she belongs as she channels the wind into her blows and a gauge inidicator shows how much wind she has channeled and also how much power they are providing her with each strike. It is a nice balance of new and old in the roster and with a promise for many more to come, it is hard not to be excited for the future of this already amazing game!!"

"Extreme Battle Mode sees you do things like fighting an opponent while a raging bull stampedes across the screen. Battle Hub is a hub where you can tour with your personal avatar from World Tour and engage with other players for fights or you can play the aracade games of old which all change up as time goes on. There are also new moves such as Drive Parrys and Drive Impacts which have their own gauges to monitor, and will see you either eat whatever move your opponent throws at you, setting you up for a perfect counterattack, or a move that can be used to immediately halt the opponents advances with an impactful attack of your own. Both are welcome additions to the setup and work easily enough for anyone to come to grips with."

"As of writing, Rashid, the turbulent wind has been released and it is clear that Capcom has put as much work in their DLC characters as the main roster which only spells great things to come for this series. Street Fighter is an iconic fighting series and it is with great joy that I am able to report that this one is the best one in years, and may well go on to becoming the illegitimate champion of the fighting scene for many years to come!!"
