Watch This Gigantic, Hand-Drawn Viking God Battle From Jotun
Enormous.
You always hear about the vikings who die gloriously in battle and are lifted up to Valhalla for non-stop combat and revelries. Jotun is an indie game that takes a different approach; as the Norse warrior Thora, you have to battle your way through the Viking version of purgatory. Having suffered what the developer Thunder Lotus Games calls an "inglorious death," your goal is to summon the warrior Jotun and prove yourself to the gods through combat.

The hand-drawn art style looks more like an animated feature than a game, but you can see what really separates Jotun from other action games in the video above: the bosses aren't just big, they're go-beyond-the-limits-of-the-screen humungous. Jotun is currently in alpha testing, and the developer describes the game's combat as "brutally hard."
Jotun is due out this fall for PC, Mac, and Linux. You can check out more images of the game in the gallery below.
