Well, that didn't take long. Radar Group's Web site has once again surfaced after abruptly being pulled yesterday, and with it comes official confirmation that Prey 2 is in the works for the Xbox 360 and PC. Human Head Studios, creators of the PC version of 2006's original Prey, will once again be handling the project, though Radar notes that the development contract has yet to be finalized.

This grim landscape should look familiar.

Whereas the first Prey focused on modern-day Native American warrior Tommy single-handedly fending off an alien invasion, the mechanic-turned-savior finds himself hunted by society for the death of his family and girlfriend in Prey 2. Through means not clearly disclosed, Tommy "escapes an Earth that no longer wants him for a future that cannot survive without him." Radar promises gameplay that will build upon the portal and gravity-defying action first seen in the original Prey.

As noted yesterday, Prey 2 is one of the first projects on offer from the newly formed Radar Group, self-described as cocreators of "original IP, designed from the ground up, for successful leveraging in game and film markets." The "brand-management company" sports an impressive pedigree of executive talent, with FormGen cofounder Jim Perkins acting as CEO, 3D Realms and Gathering of Developers cofounder Scott Miller serving as chief creative officer, and former Relic Entertainment producer Raphael van Lierop aboard as executive creative director.

"We're something our industry desperately needs," said Miller on the goals of the company. "Radar is teaming up with many of the industry's top independent studios to help them create original IP in which they own a substantial ownership stake. Why is this important? Because in today's industry it's nearly impossible, unless you're Epic or Valve, to create original games and not give away full IP ownership to the publisher. Radar believes that creators should share ownership, and all of the long-term benefits that come from that."

Radar also gave further details on two of the games hinted at as in development yesterday. Developed in conjunction with Recoil Games, Earth No More aims to eschew the lone-gunman mechanic of traditional shooters by focusing more on collaborative gameplay. The game does not yet have a release window and is currently penciled in for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Though little is yet known about the game, Radar is also working with an undisclosed studio on Incarnate for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. The third-person adventure game drops players in the role of Thomas Ludlow, who must sleuth out a mystery involving the reincarnated souls of some of history's most reviled and nefarious individuals.
