Call of Duty: Black Ops coming to Wii - Report
USA Today lists Nintendo's system among platforms for Treyarch-developed, Cold War-era shooter, due November 9.
After two months of tumult surrounding Infinity Ward and the Call of Duty brand, the shooter saga took a comforting turn of events in late April when Activision announced the expected Call of Duty: Black Ops. As had been rumored for months, the Treyarch-developed shooter would move beyond World War II and into the Cold War era, delving into regions such as Cuba, Vietnam, and the Arctic.
This week, USA Today offered one more expected development for Call of Duty: Black Ops, reporting that Treyarch's shooter will arrive on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. And as with Treyarch's last project--Call of Duty: World at War--USA Today confirmed that Black Ops will ship on the Wii. All four versions are expected to be available on November 9.
Activision has previously stated that Treyarch is focusing its entire 200-person-plus development team on crafting Black Ops, a first for the studio's efforts on the Call of Duty franchise. Though details on the project remain light, the game will have a single-player campaign, competitive multiplayer, and a co-op mode. It is unclear if the co-op mode will be for the entire campaign or will have a more limited scope, as in Modern Warfare 2's Special Ops mode.
As for that single-player campaign, USA Today's first look at the game detailed one level in the game, set in 1968, in which players attempt to infiltrate a Russian facility in the Ural Mountains. In the level, gamers pick through enemy combatants with a scoped crossbow, and they'll be able to work in alternate ammo (such as explosive-tipped arrows) to overcome different scenarios.
