PlayStation Rewards getting quests
Sony creating meta-missions to accelerate advancement in its rewards program beta; full service available next April.
In October, Sony announced it was beginning the PlayStation Rewards program, a new awards system aimed at rewarding ardent fans. Currently in invite-only private beta, the program lets players earn PlayStation Network avatars, dynamic themes, PlayStation Home content, and other items by filling a progress meter. Progression in said meter is advanced by performing activities such as buying content via the PlayStation Store, playing games, and taking surveys about Sony products.
Today, the company announced it is adding quests to the PlayStation Rewards program. The quests will essentially be a series of meta-games designed to motivate consumers to use various PlayStation services. Examples given were the "Move It" question, which rewards players for playing a Move-compatible game; "Check your Pulse," given for watching the PlayStation Network show Pulse; and "No Place Like Home," which has players visit the central plaza of PlayStation Home.
According to Sony, nine quests will be added to the PlayStation Rewards beta tomorrow, with more being added at regular intervals in the future. It is unclear how many will be available as part of the PlayStation Rewards program when it comes out of beta next April.
