2K Faces Criticism For Banning Popular WWE 2K24 Creator

Popular WWE 2K24 creator WhatsTheStatus announced on X that all his uploads had been deleted from the game, and that he had received a permanent online ban from the 2K game. The creator was known for uploading hidden content from the game's files to WWE 2K's community library so other players could access it.

As reported by VGC, WhatsTheStatus, popularly known just by Status, took to X to tell fans that the total removal of his uploads was done by 2K, not him. The next day he revealed that he had also been permanently banned from all of the game's online features.

"We were recently alerted that this account has been associated with inappropriate content," the ban message reads. "This is a violation of our End User License Agreement which every player accepts prior to accessing WWE 2K24 online features."

A 2K spokesperson gave a statement on Status's ban: "The player in question has received an indefinite ban due to violations of terms. Mods which negatively impact the game experience for other players violate our terms. Our primary concern is a positive WWE 2K24 experience for all players."

Status is known for uploading hidden content from the game, including hidden models of certain wrestlers, or uploading usually unplayable characters. His notable uploads for WWE 2K24 included content that allowed male and female wrestlers to face each other, something which isn't allowed by the main game.

Speaking to VGC, Status expressed confusion on the ban, saying he hadn't been given any warnings, nor had he been told what uploads constituted inappropriate content. "I was banned with no warning and no confirmation on what caused it, so it could be anything," Status said.

As he's a popular creator providing access to valuable content for other players, other WWE 2K fans are also upset about Status's ban. #FreeStatus trended on X in the United States and Canada earlier in the week, while players are also flooding the game's user-uploaded libraries with images bearing the same slogan.

2K got itself in hot water over WWE 2K24 moderation earlier this year, when players were uploading explicit imagery to the game's Create-A-Sign feature en masse. Many of the pornographic images managed to make it to the top of the trending pages, with some of them staying up for days at a time.
