Sunflowers has released some preliminary information on the battle system in its upcoming strategy game Anno 1503. The game is a sequel to 1602 A.D. and features over ten different units. Key new units include pioneer units, which are used to explore new areas, and siege engine units that can be used to attack fortifications and cities. The game will feature a 3D landscape that will affect combat, as units positioned atop hills will have better visibility and a longer range. In addition, city walls can be built with gates that can be closed.

Anno 1503 will focus on the same set of activities as 1602 A.D., notably exploration, trade, diplomacy, and combat. For more information about the game, visit the official Sunflowers web site.
