A sequel to the underwater PC shooter is currently in the works at Massive Development in Germany.

Austrian publisher JoWood Productions has released a new batch of early screenshots from the underwater action game AquaNox: Revelation. This follow-up to last year's AquaNox is in development at Germany-based Massive Development, and it will be set in more elaborate underwater environments, complete with collapsed rock pillars, naturally formed bridges, and giant boulders. Visually, the game already is quite detailed, with rays of light breaking through the water's surface and reaching far down into the sea.

"It is very important for us to render the landscapes as realistically as possible," said Oliver Weirich, art director at Massive Development. "The player should recognize that the territories have had a history before he or she came there. Half-sunken buildings and overturned rocks create authenticity, orientation, and the possibility for advanced tactical elements during the missions."

AquaNox: Revelation is due out at the end of the year. For more information, read our full review of AquaNox .
