EA Sports kicks a goal with FIFA Soccer 2009.

While FIFA Soccer 10 was busy breaking sales records in Europe this past week, it was also performing quite strongly on the Aussie front. The latest iteration in EA Sports' popular football franchise took out the first and third positions, respectively, in the overall Australian game chart during its first week of sales, according to data trackers GfK Australia.

The sports gaming jocks knocked down the previous week's number one, Halo 3: ODST, which took out second place during the week of September 28-October 4. Professor Layton and Pandora's Box remains right in the middle, at number five, while newcomer Toy Story Mania debuted in the sixth position. Wii Sports Resort, Mario Party 8, and Mario Kart Wii, all titles that like to populate the top half of the charts during the quieter weeks, have been knocked down to the opposite end of the top 10, landing in the eighth, ninth, and 10th places, respectively.
