[Ending Soon] Best Gaming Deals Outside Amazon On Prime Day 2019 (US)

I think we just invented Black Friday again.

Comments

Amazon Prime Day 2019 was bigger than ever this year. The shopping extravaganza spanned July 15 and 16--that's a full 48 hours of shopping. While Prime Day may be an Amazon event, the e-commerce giant isn't the only retailer offering deals. In response to Amazon basically inventing a shopping holiday in the US, more and more retailers are putting on competing sales in order to take advantage. One benefit to these other sales is that they don't require a subscription for you to partake in them, unlike Amazon Prime. The result is that Prime Day has grown into a sort of general shopping holiday in the US, kinda like Black Friday/Cyber Monday. So far, we have confirmed competing sales from Dell, Ebay, GameStop, Newegg, Target, and Walmart.

Now that Prime Day is here, you might want to brush up on our general tips for getting the best deals. Gamers will also want to take note of Twitch Prime's freebies on offer this year. We're continuously posting all the best gaming-focused deals from Prime Day as they go live, but be sure to check out all of the competing sales below to ensure that you secure the most bang for your buck.

Dell

Dude, you're getting a deal! Dell's response to Prime Day was to host Black Friday in July until July 15 at 8 AM ET / 5 AM PT. Now that Prime Day is officially here, Dell has switched its sale to Cyber Week In July, running from July 15-21. Every day of the sale will feature different doorbuster deals that are only available for 24 hours starting at 11 AM ET, or while supplies last. The sale includes some serious discounts on items across every section of the store, including gaming PCs and laptops, monitors, and accessories. Signing up for Dell's loyalty program (which has no fees or subscription charges) can also net you an additional 3% back on purchases when you spend $500 in a 12-month period (which isn't that hard if you buy a computer). Check out some of the best gaming-related deals below.

Ebay

Ebay is making the cheekiest and most direct jab at Amazon with the Ebay Crash Sale starting July 15. The name alludes to Amazon's technical issues last year when the site briefly collapsed under the increased Prime Day traffic. Ebay has stated that if Amazon goes down again this year, additional deals will unlock in the Crash Sale, which is a funny hedge bet on Amazon being overwhelmed again (although so far, Amazon is up and in good shape). The announcement promised deals up to 50% off on products from Apple, LG, Samsung, KitchenAid, and Garmin. We're rounding up the best Ebay deals throughout the sale.

In addition to the Crash Sale itself on July 15, Ebay also announced Hot Deals for Hot Days running from July 8 through 22, which includes a variety of deals worth checking every day, such as $22 for Sea of Thieves.

Walmart

Walmart's Summer Savings Event surrounds Prime Day by a day or two on either side, running from July 14 to 17 with big savings on new PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC games; retro arcade machines; and consoles. Two console deals in particular are worth taking advantage of: an Xbox One S console with a bonus game, headset, and controller for just $300, and a Nintendo Switch bundle with a first-party Nintendo game and bonus accessory of your choice for $330. Orders over $35 are eligible for free two-day or next-day shipping, depending on location--and no membership is required. See more of the best Prime Day deals at Walmart below!

Fanatical

If you're primarily a PC gamer, you've probably heard of Fanatical, the digital store that sells officially licensed Steam or Uplay keys, usually at a bargain price. During Prime Day 2019, Fanatical is offering GameSpot readers an exclusive code, GAMESPOT10, that will slash an additional 10% off the price of any game (excluding pre-orders and Star Deals).

This discount code will be available to use on Monday, July 15 and Tuesday, July 16, while Prime Day is live. There are plenty of great deals worth taking advantage of at Fanatical right now, including a major Ubisoft sale with up to 90% off games like Assassin's Creed Origins and Rainbow Six Siege. Newegg

Hardware specialist Newegg has announced its fifth annual FantasTech Sale, which runs from July 8 to 18. Technically, FantasTech itself only spans July 15-16, but this year it's expanded to include a pre-sale from July 8 to 14, and then an extended sale on July 17 and 18. We've broken down what will be included in each phase of the sale below:

FantasTech Pre-Sale (July 8-14)

  • July 8 - 5,000 EggPoints (equal to a $50 credit) for new sign-ups of Newegg's store credit card
  • July 9 - Over 50 early access deals
  • July 10 - "Special Surprise"
  • July 11-12 - Early access on ABS gaming and streaming PC deals
  • July 13-14 - Early access on Rosewill deals
  • July 15 - Deals unlocking between 12:01 AM and 12:00 PM when sale officially launches

FantasTech Sale (July 15-16)

  • Thousands of deals on products from Acer, ASUS, Corsair, Lenovo, Philips, Seagate, Western Digital and other top brands

FantasTech Extended Sale (July 17-18)

  • TBD

In the meantime, Newegg is already offering deals through the weekend, including 50% off select PS4, Xbox One, and Switch games by using code EMCTCUU29. Some of the best game deals include Sushi Striker: The Way of the Sushido (Switch) for $10, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (PC) for $22.50, God of War (PS4) for $20, and Marvel's Spider-Man (PS4) for $25. You can also save 30% on PC gaming accessories with code EMCTCUU28 and 10% off game consoles and accessories with code EMCTCUU26, so check those sales out before Monday. Those discounts are applied on top of any existing markdowns, which leads to some pretty good deals.

Target

Target has announced that its Deal Days is also running July 15-16, with savings across the whole store. The deals will only be available on purchases made through the website, but same-day, in-store pick up will be an option for customers with a local Target retail store. As is always the case with Target sales, customers who pay with the REDcard (Target's store credit card) will save an additional 5% and get free shipping, in addition to free shipping on all orders over $35.

Deal Days doesn't begin until July 15, but for the week prior Target is offering 50% off a selection of appliances, dinnerware, and other home goods through the website. None of the announced deals have thus far pertained to games or gaming hardware (it's mostly home goods, appliances, and the like), but you can be sure that we'll update with any and all that we find as soon as they are announced.
