Biggest N64 Game Yet

New information from Japan states that Zelda 64 will be much bigger than expected.

Comments

According to the Japanese magazine Dengeki Nintendo 64, the cartridge version of Zelda 64 will be bigger than the 128 megabits that it was first expected to weigh in at. Instead, the game will be 256 megabits, becoming the biggest Nintendo 64 game to date, quadruple the size of Mario 64 and double the size of Banjo-Kazooie.

At press time, Nintendo of America could not confirm the size of the game.

It's not known at this time what the extra space will be used for, but there's no doubt that the game will be huge. It also brings into question the future of the planned 64DD version of the game. Will a 64DD version or add-on be needed if the cartridge version is already this big? A cartridge game totaling 256 megabits (32 MB) is already half the size of a 64DD game.

Additional details came out of an interview in Dengeki Nintendo 64 with Nintendo's Miyamoto-san, including confirmation that Link will indeed ride a horse in the game. Link will be able to brandish two kinds of swords, with varying lengths, in addition to a bow and other weapons.
