Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's private Blackout beta has been available on PS4 for several days now, and in that time the mode has received some notable tweaks and adjustments. Developer Treyarch detailed another list of changes it has made on Reddit, further refining the beta's stability and introducing its second special event, Close Quarters.

Close Quarters has replaced Wednesday's special playlist, the faster-paced Fast Collapse. As its name suggests, this new event is all about close-range combat, featuring only SMGs, shotguns, handguns, and old-fashioned fisticuffs. On top of that, Treyarch has added four more Black Ops characters to the playable roster: Mason, Menendez, Reznov, and Woods.

Beyond those additions, Treyarch has added a killcam and changed the amount of time it takes to activate Perks to two seconds. Level 3 armor was adjusted as well; it still mitigates damage and headshots, but now it will break sooner. Level 2 armor was also "minorly" tweaked. The developer has also implemented general stability improvements.

Treyarch has said it will adjust Blackout mode daily as the beta rolls on. Other areas the developer is looking to address is footstep volume and the Merits and leveling systems. The studio will also make it easier to pick items up off the ground without needing to look down at them.

The private Blackout beta kicked off on PS4 earlier this week, on September 10, but it will expand to other platforms very soon. Xbox One and PC players who've pre-ordered Black Ops 4 will get to jump in beginning Friday, September 14, and the beta will further open up to all PC players with a Battle.net account on September 15. The Blackout beta will be available until 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET on September 17.
