Following a successful first year, 2K and Firaxis Games on Wednesday announced that the second annual Firaxicon will be held later this year. The event, which is meant to celebrate Firaxis, and its franchises such as Civilization and XCOM, will take place at the Baltimore Convention Center on October 3.

In a statement, Firaxis creative director and industry legend Sid Meier said he enjoys meeting fans in person and talking directly to them about Firaxis games. "This has quickly become one of the studio's most popular events of the year," he said. "Our team members very much look forward to giving the fans an in-depth look at our latest projects this fall."

Firaxicon 2015 attendees can meet Firaxis developers and sit in on various XCOM and Civilization panels, as well as a presentation from none other than Meier himself. Attendees can also check out unreleased games such as Civilization: Beyond Earth's Rising Tide expansion and XCOM 2 during the event.

In addition, attendees will get to play board against with (or against) Firaxis developers, participate in various giveaways and competitions, and also take home swag.

Tickets are $40 (plus a $3.19 fee) and can be purchased through this Evenbrite website.

If you can't make it to the show itself, you'll be able to watch the panels and other events live on GameSpot. We'll have a full programming lineup for you as we get closer to the event.
