Connectix Ships Virtual Game Station 1.2

Connectix has shipped Virtual Game Station version 1.2 for G3-based Apple Macintosh computers. The latest version of the Sony PlayStation emulator offers improved game compatibility, enhanced antipiracy technology, and support for the Interact DexDrive. Users of older VGS versions will be able to upgrade their versions by downloading an updater from the company's web site.

Gamers looking to buy VGS can purchase the software for US$49 at major retailers or through the company directly at its web site. Connectix also announced that it has made progress in building a Windows version of the popular software. But the company did not state when Windows users would have the software.

In other news, Sony filed three requests on March 11, 1999, with the San Francisco Federal District Court regarding the software - all of which were rejected. Those requests demanded that Connectix cease use of all copies of PlayStation BIOS, to deliver all BIOS copies to Sony counsel, and to give Sony all prototypes for the Windows version of the software. The court has ordered Connectix to halt development on the Windows version of the software for 20 days until another court hearing can be held.
