NEC Interchannel said it will release a US PlayStation 2 version of Culdcept in October. The Culdcept series first launched in Japan in 1999 and combines fantasy card battle gameplay and tactical board game elements.

In Culdcept, each player has a customizable deck of 50 cards, drawn from a pool of 480 in-game cards. Each, of up to four players, maneuvers around a map and attempts to gain control of unclaimed land. It's when two players land on the same square that the card battles begin. Culdcept features 42 map layouts and includes art from well-known Japanese fantasy artists.
