On March 1, THQ will release the second stand-alone expansion to its well-regarded PC sci-fi strategy title Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, Retribution. When it does, gamers will have a pair of configurations to pick up the package in, as well as a bevy of preorder bonuses.

The top-tier $40 Collector's Edition box features both in-game perks and desktop tchotchkes for Warhammer 40,000 fans. Wargamers' virtual goods include bonus equipment for each of the game's six playable races: Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, Orks, Eldar, Tyranid, and Imperial Guard. The out-of-game perks include a poster, playing cards for each race, and premium packaging.

Warhammer 40,000 gamers can alternatively pick up in-game bonuses for just their chosen allegiance by preordering the $30 standard digital edition of the game. Gamers interested in Ork-related swag must preorder the game through Valve's digital distribution service Steam, while the Tyranid perks can only be had through THQ.com. Alternatively, gamers can pick up bonuses specific to their faction of choice through a variety of digital distribution services.

Retribution follows on from the events that transpired in Dawn of War II's first expansion, Chaos Rising. Set 10 years later, the game sees the Imperium reeling after an apparent betrayal by Gabriel Angelos' Space Marines. Gamers will be able to assume command of their chosen faction to experience the events of the game as they play out.
