Xbox is reportedly publishing a side-scrolling action game with art similar to Princess Mononoke, codenamed Project Belfry. The game is supposedly being developed by the team behind The Banner Saga trilogy and is set to be console exclusive to Xbox.

This report comes from GamesBeat reporter Jeff Grubb, who shared information on Project Belfry in the latest episode of GrubbSnax on GameSpot's sister site, Giant Bomb. The sidescrolling action game was described by Grubb as similar in gameplay to Dragon's Crown and there is a bell tower (the Belfry) that serves as a central hub for crafting items and upgrading gear.

Jez Corden of Windows Central reported that Project Belfry is being developed by Stoic Studio, the developer of the Banner Saga trilogy, a series of tactical RPGs with a 2D cartoon art style. He also said the game is being published by Xbox Global Publishing, possibly launching on Xbox Game Pass.

Stoic Studio has not publicly announced its next project and posted a job listing looking to fill several roles working on a "brand-new title" in September. This job listing does not confirm these reports and things could always change prior to an official announcement, so take these reports with a grain of salt.
