E3 2014: Debut Game from Journey Art Director's Studio Announced, Called Abzu
Swim with the fishes.
The first game from studio Giant Squid was revealed during Sony's E3 2014 press conference. Called Abzu, the game has an underwater setting and a striking art style, reminiscent in its use of shape and color of the look of Journey. That's not surprising, considering that Giant Squid was founded by Matt Nava, art director on Journey and Flower. Footage showed schools of fish darting around, a diver swimming among sharks and massive whales, and standing near a group of glowing jellyfish-like organisms.
It was also stated that Austin Wintory, the award-winning composer of the Journey soundtrack, is creating the music for Abzu, and that the game will make its exclusive console debut on the PlayStation 4.
