Evolve Tournament Offers $15,000 First Place Prize

Top two teams in open tournament win paid trips to Los Angeles, where they will play the final match.

Sony Pictures and Twitch have announced the launch of an Evolve tournament to celebrate the upcoming release of the film Chappie. Players can sign up in a team of four to compete against "some of North America's best Evolve players" in an open bracket.

The top two teams will win a paid trip to Los Angeles, where they will compete for $15,000 and a live streamed match against Chappie, the titular protagonist of the film. The team placing second will score $5,000. Players can sign up now on the website. Registrations will close on February 21, the same day that the qualifier begins.

Turtle Rock Studios' asymmetric multiplayer shooter Evolve launches on February 10 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. From the creators of Left 4 Dead, the game pits a team of up to four hunters against a single monster controlled by a fifth player.
