Friends Vs. Friends' Gamescom premiere opened with a cinematic of animals friends buying magical cards from a shady site, and chaos breaking loose as they proceed to murder each other with magical cards—and cartoon guns.

The game itself offers 1v1 and 2v2 modes, with weapons, powers, and de-buffs applied from the aforementioned deck of cards. As you play, you will level up your character, gain new cards, and improve ones you already have. You can change your deck in-between matches. With time you will find new characters and and new strategies. It's hard to get a sense of each character's abilities just from the footage, but the roster of 10 includes a bomber-jacket-touting moose, a thieving rabbit, and a goth dog.

Cards shown off in the trailer and other marketing materials include Ninja Log, which avoids your enemy's next attack, and Vampire Bullets, which causes each hit to heal some health. The idea is to combine the frenetic pace of a local co-op shooter with the smarts of a tactical card game.

The game has both local and online multiplayer, promising quick matches. The Steam page also assures that the game will never use micro-transactions for progression. You can wishlist it on Steam now. Demos will be available at Gamescom starting tomorrow and PAX West next weekend. Any info regarding platforms other than PC has not been announced.
