Google Stadia Founder's Edition -- Pre-Order Info, Price, And More Details

Stadia launches this November.

Comments

Google has finally shed more light on its new cloud gaming platform, Stadia. During its Stadia Connect presentation on June 6, the company narrowed down Stadia's release window and announced the platform's launch lineup, which includes some big-name titles. If you're eager to try the service out right away, however, you'll need to pick up the Stadia Founder's Edition.

The only way to play Stadia when it launches this November is through the Founder's Edition. It runs for $130 / £120 and comes with two physical devices: a limited-edition Night Blue Stadia controller, and a Chromecast Ultra. On top of that, the Founder's Edition includes a three-month Stadia Pro subscription, as well as a Buddy Pass that lets you share a three-month Pro subscription with a friend. One final benefit: you'll have first dibs when choosing a Stadia name.

Pre-order Stadia Founder's Edition now »

At launch, the Stadia Founder's Edition will be available in 14 countries around the world: the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. Google says the platform will expand to more regions after launch, although it hasn't yet specified which.

The aforementioned Stadia Pro subscription will cost $10 per month, but at launch, it will only be available as part of the Founder's Edition. With the subscription, you'll have access to a library of games that can be streamed in up to 4K and 60 FPS with 5.1 surround sound. Additionally, Pro subscribers will receive discounts on full game purchases. The Stadia controller, meanwhile, costs $69 in the US, with international pricing yet to be revealed.

A free version of the service, called Stadia Base, will also be available, although that isn't expected to launch until sometime next year. This tier doesn't give users access to a library of games like the Pro subscription, but it does still allow them to purchase titles and stream them in up to 1080p at 60 FPS.

We learned a lot more about Stadia during the Connect presentation. Google also revealed some of the games that will be coming to the service, including Ghost Recon Breakpoint and the rumored Baldur's Gate 3. Borderlands 3 will also be there at launch, as will Destiny 2 with its full suite of content, including the upcoming Shadowkeep expansion.
