More details on Deck 13's upcoming sci-fi RPG will be announced next month at Gamescom.

The next game from Lords of the Fallen developer Deck 13 now has a name. Publisher Focus Home Interactive on Tuesday announced that the game, a sci-fi role-playing title, is called The Surge.

It was initially revealed through a teaser image and some vague details in the beginning of June. The game is slated to launch in 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Focus Home will reveal more details on The Surge at Gamescom next month in Germany. Don't expect a gameplay trailer, however, as the publisher only plans to share details behind closed doors with writers.

Gamescom 2015 runs August 5-9; GameSpot will be reporting live from the show all week long.

Focus Home is calling The Surge a "premium action RPG" that features "innovative combat mechanics" and an "original character progression system."

The Surge seems quite different from Lords of the Fallen, which was often compared to the Dark Souls franchise of fantasy RPGs. The teaser image appears to depict a human wearing some kind of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare-style mechanical suit.

In other news about Deck 13, it was recently confirmed that the German studio will not be involved in the upcoming Lords of the Fallen sequel.
