Need For Speed Arena Trademarked by EA

Need for Speed publisher EA has filed a new trademark in the EU for what looks to be a new title in the racing series: Need for Speed Arena.

The publisher applied for the trademark on November 7 to the European Union Intellectual Property Office.

Now Playing: Need For Speed - Video Review

Need for Speed's developer, Ghost Games, already revealed we're due another entry into the long-running racing franchise. In a May 2016 blog post, the company said, "Since we released Need for Speed last November, we’ve been humbled by the support from our players and the ongoing collaboration with you. We are now building upon the foundations that have been laid with Need for Speed and delivering our next game in 2017."

Not all trademarks turn into final products, but if Need for Speed Arena does eventually make it to store shelves, it would be the first in the series since 2015's reboot.
