Nvidia Reveals 12GB GTX Titan X Price and Specs

Nvidia's GTX Titan X, its upcoming 12GB GPU, will cost $999 in the US and £879 in the UK when it goes on sale on March 18. That's a significant increase over the $549 GTX 980, but matches the launch price of the original GTX Titan.

Aside from the price, Nvidia also revealed some of the GPU's key specifications. Most notably, the Titan X is the first GPU from Nvidia to come with 12GB of VRAM.

Unlike the GTX 980, the Titan X sports a 384-bit memory interface, which shifts data 50 percent faster at 336.5 GB/sec. It's also the first GPU from Nvidia to make use of the GM200 core, which carries 8 billion transistors in a 28nm die.

The GM200 consists of six Graphics Processing Clusters, each of which contains four Streaming Multiprocessors Units, with 128 cores in each SMM block. That adds up to 24 SMM Units, 3072 CUDA Cores, 192 Texture Mapping Units and 96 ROPs.

To back up the improved specifications, the Titan X sports a 250W TDP that requires 6 and 8-pin power from your power supply. Nvidia recommends a minimum 600W power supply.
