Blizzard Entertainment has kicked off an Overwatch Anniversary limited-time event with new skins for several heroes to celebrate five years of the game. You'll also be able to check out returning limited-time modes from past events.

The official Overwatch Twitter account has revealed new skins for several heroes, including Baptiste, Moira, Sombra, Junkrat, and Doomfist. The event itself runs until June 8 and also includes a few epic skins as rewards. Earning rewards works differently than in the past, as you'll get them when playing 9, 18, and 27 games in Quick Play, Arcade, or Competitive Play.

These skins come not long after Blizzard gave fan-favorite Mei a new look that included cornrows. The legendary MM-Mei skin caused an uproar online, with many criticizing Blizzard for co-opting a hairstyle traditionally worn the Black community but especially Black women.

As noted above, Blizzard will also cycle through brawls from the past, including those from Winter Wonderland, Summer Games, Archives, Halloween Terror, and Lunar New Year. These will each be available on specific days, and the associated rewards (such as kinds) from them will be available to unlock.

In other Overwatch news, newly appointed game director Aaron Keller, alongside other members of the Overwatch team, will host a "What's Next" livestream on May 20 to discuss Overwatch 2 and show off live gameplay.
