So some of you may have heard me and Rich talking about picking up a car. Let's talk about that for a minute. About a week ago, Cadillac got in touch with GameSpot and asked if we'd like to use a V-Series Cadillac or two for the week of E3, no strings attached. After thinking it over for a bit, we decided that driving a Cadillac down to LA at high rates of speed sounded like fun, so we took them up on the offer.

Friday afternoon, Rich and I got a ride from Alex down to a local dealership to pick up the car from a nice car dealer named Frank, who happily showed us how to turn off the traction control and relayed the helpful info that doing so would let us "smoke the tires off." Obviously, we were pretty excited, as I smoke the tires off my Mustang GT on a regular basis, but this car would be much better at it. I drove it back to the office, put my foot into it a couple of times, but nothing super fast.

Here's where the story gets fun. After work, I went to go get in the car and drive home. After showing Greg the goofy, unresponsive touch screen, I went to start it, and... nothing. A click from engine compartment and utter blackness from the dashboard. I tried it the push button starter once more... nothing. And nothing again. And again. And again. Yeah, this thing's dead. After getting a ride from Greg, I came back this morning with jumper cables.

So yeah, as the pictures show, Rich and I aren't recklessly rolling around in an STS, so you probably know how this story ends. That car has 250 miles on it, and it's currently set to sit in the office garage for the week of E3 because it's a worthless hunk of metal that refused to be jumpstarted. Rather than wait for someone to come tow it away, we're on our way to E3. Nothing like a needless hassle right before the busiest week of the year, but whatever, we'll be there soon.

I'll probably have more to say on the subject later in a mature-themed video entry to this blog, but since we're in the car, here's a quick summary: Don't buy a Cadillac.
