Neither Sony nor Team Meat have officially announced the release date for Super Meat Boy on PlayStation platforms. The listed October 6 release date would suggest that Super Meat Boy might be one of October's free PlayStation Plus games, but Sony has not yet announced the month's lineup.
It's been a long road to release for Super Meat Boy on PlayStation systems.
Team Meat co-founder Tommy Refenes said previously that the developer was prohibited from bringing Super Meat Boy to PlayStation consoles for "very complicated reasons." Those "reasons" are most likely some kind of exclusivity arrangement with Microsoft for the game's original Xbox 360 release in 2010.
"We actually never ever EVER thought this day would come and it makes us both so happy that it's finally here! We know this has been a long time coming but better late than never," Refenes said at the time.
For what it's worth, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has said that an Xbox One version of Super Meat Boy "would be great."

"The beauty of Super Meat Boy is that it always plays within the rules, and the smooth difficulty curve gives you plenty of time to become acquainted with everything before the true tests are unleashed," our reviewer said. "Death is always just one misstep away in Super Meat Boy, but the rush of winning is so supremely rewarding that you won't be able to tear yourself away."
