Sakura Taisen, a mix of action mech and dating simulator, has gained praise from the Japanese press and gamers alike for being one of the best Saturn titles of 1996. Since it won several awards at the Tokyo Game Show in early April, speculation has risen that a sequel is not far away. Even an OAV (Original Animated Video) series devoted to the game and its characters is coming out in Japan later this summer.

Well, a sequel has now been announced, and should be released some time at the beginning of 1998. For fans of the series both in the US and Japan, this means that the Saturn will see the characters in a full adventure (and not just a puzzle game or add-on disc) sometime in the future.
