Take-Two Interactive has launched a new official site for its upcoming first-person shooter, Serious Sam: The Second Encounter. The new site features a brief overview of the game's story and features, a rundown of the new enemies, weapons, and power-ups that will appear in the game, a gallery of screenshots, and a video trailer.

Serious Sam: The Second Encounter is in development at Croteam, the Croatian game studio that created the previous game, Serious Sam: The First Encounter. In the new game, players will once again assume the role of Sam "Serious" Stone, a hero on a quest to save the world from the evil plans of his enemy, Mental. The Second Encounter features three new weapons (the flamethrower, the sniper rifle with 8X zoom, and the chainsaw), 12 new single-player levels, and 15 new multiplayer levels. In addition, the game includes seven new monsters to fight.

Contrary to 2824114previous reports , Serious Sam: The Second Encounter will be released on January 15, 2002. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game and visit the new official Web site.
