Although we've known about it for some time, we've had to keep our lips zipped about Iguana's newest multiplayer action fest. Acclaim has finally given GameSpot News the green light to reveal details surrounding South Park for the Nintendo 64.

It seems as if South Park is under siege from a mysterious comet that only comes around every 666 years. Turkeys are revolting, the son of Skuzzlebutt is out of his mind, and Cartman's mom has been abducted by aliens (poor aliens). If Cartman ever hopes to have dinner again, it's up to you to save the day. Over the course of six episode-based one-player levels, you can control one of your favorite South Park characters: Kyle, Stan, Cartman, or Kenny.

Basically, the game is a combo of Quake-style action and South Park craziness. You'll be able to take on your friends in five different multiplayer modes like capture the flag and kick the baby. Although your default weapon is an endless supply of snowballs, crazy gadgets you'll be able to use include a cow launcher, a live sniper-chicken, and even Mr. Hankey, everyone's favorite Christmas poo.

The entire South Park supporting cast is there as well: Big Gay Al, Terrance and Phillip, Mr. Garrison (and Mr. Hat), Mephisto, and many more. Whether or not Acclaim plans to make South Park compatible with the 4MB RAM pack is still uncertain, but with the majority of Acclaim's lineup, including Turok 2, already coded for the enhancement, chances are good. Hi-res for South Park, anyone?

Developed by Iguana Entertainment, South Park should debut sometime this December.
