The Legend of Zelda GameCube to link with GBA

Nintendo's flagship GameCube game will be able to interact with the Game Boy Advance.

At E3 last week, Nintendo showed a version of The Legend of Zelda for the GameCube, which used a link between it and the Game Boy Advance. The GameCube must first be attached to a Game Boy Advance using the Game Boy Advance Link Cable. To access the feature, players must select the Game Boy Advance as an item for Link to use. If Link uses the Game Boy Advance during gameplay, the Game Boy Advance will load information into its RAM, and this will let players play along with Link in real time without a special cartridge. Tingle, a character from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, will be shown on the screen, along with a basic depiction of the level being played on the GameCube. Using an icon that pops up on the TV screen, Tingle will then be able to drop bombs on unsuspecting enemies in the GameCube game. Link may also be struck with the bombs, so it's important for the player who is controlling Tingle with the Game Boy Advance to be careful.

From the looks of things, there will be more that players can do with the connectivity--and more yet to be discovered. Unfortunately, the menus were in Japanese, and we were unable to discern any further clues. We'll have more on the connection between The Legend of Zelda for the GameCube and the Game Boy Advance when it becomes available.
