EA Sports announced today that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 has shipped out to stores. Rated "E" for everyone, the latest installment in the popular virtual golfer is available for the Xbox, GameCube, and PlayStation 2 for $49.99. A PC version is also available for $39.99.

As is often the case with sports franchises, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 is much like Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004--except with refined gameplay and new features. This time around, the game offers a new-'n'-improved version of the game's GameFace technology, which will allow players to create an "ultradetailed" character featuring their own likeness as well as a custom wardrobe.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 will also offer a much greater degree of course customization than its predecessors. Players will be able to "Tiger Proof" by altering the terrain fairways and greens to increase entire courses' difficulty. Players will also be able to create their own fantasy country club by recombining pieces of real-life courses, including new additions like the Edgewood Country Club, Sherwood Country Club, Fancourt Golf Club Estate, and Troon North.

As with previous Tiger Woods games, gamers will be able to play against golf champions past and present, including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan, Vijay Singh, and Woods himself. GameSpot's full review of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 will be available later this week. In the meantime, scope out our extensive previous coverage of the game.
