Torchlight III has been announced for Switch. The game, which was shown off during the Nintendo Indie World Showcase, is due for release on Nintendo's hybrid console in Fall 2020.

Torchlight III has had an interesting development cycle. Initially announced as a free-to-play title called Torchlight Frontiers, in January the game was rebranded and dropped the F2P elements, including in-game purchases and an always-online requirement.

The game hit Steam Early Access in June, and features four classes--Dusk Mage, Forged, Railmaster, and Sharpshooter. User reviews on Steam are currently "mixed", but there's hope that some of the game's issues will be sorted out in time for a full release.

The Switch version will give you access to a unique pet that won't be available in other versions--a red fairy, pictured above. It will also, of course, be the only fully portable version of the game.

The game's predecessor, Torchlight II, released for Switch in 2019.
