Wonderful Metroidvania Is Free For Chromebook Users For A Limited Time
If you have a Chromebook, make sure to claim Motion Twin's beloved roguelike Metroidvania for free alongside other cool freebies.
As school starts back up around the country, many students have probably picked up a new Chromebook to complete assignments. Chromebooks remain a popular option for students thanks to their budget-friendly prices and ability to complete most basic tasks. You can also use your Chromebook for gaming--after your work is done, of course. Right now, Chromebook users can secure a free copy of Dead Cells, one of the best roguelike games in recent memory.
To claim Dead Cells on your Chromebook, you'll have to visit Google's Chromebook perks page, which has a running list of all of the latest freebies that you can grab. Dead Cells is only available for free for a limited time, so grab it as soon as you can.
We gave the roguelike Metroidvania a 9/10 in our Dead Cells review. "Dead Cells is a fascinating amalgam of several of today's most popular indie genres," critic Daniel Starkey wrote. "It juggles elements of tough-as-nails action games and Metroid-inspired exploration platformers, with the procedurally generated levels and random item allotments found in roguelikes. It's impressive how it all comes together without a hitch, especially given that the persistent character growth found in games like Dark Souls or Metroid squarely conflicts with the randomized resets emblematic of Rogue-inspired games."
Dead Cells isn't the only free game available now for Chromebook users. You can also snag Doom (1993) and Doom II as well as in-game bonuses for Fallout Shelter and The Elder Scrolls: Legends. Outside of games, Chromebook owners can secure a three-month subscription to Disney+ (new subscribers only).
