Assassins Creed Odyssey takes its main story line very seriously and the cut scenes are beautifully encapsulated. The game has all the elements of previous AC games and more. The upgrade system relies on the experience points you collect while out in the world solving quests, side quests and exploring all the Greek islands. Set in the Greek world and on the backdrop of the Sparta and Athens conflict. AC Odyssey allows the player a multitude of choices in shaping the final outcome of the battle and main story line.
The side quests are scattered all along the Greek world with some more engaging than others. The hunt for cult of Cosmos is another part of the game that is engaging and encourages you to explore the world in order to hunt down more cultists in order reveal the ring leaders as well as upgrade your spear which in turn allows you to unlock higher tier of abilities.
If you commit blatant crime and reckless murder sprees your bounty goes up which attracts mercenaries of varying degrees and skill to hunt you down which is also satisfying and rewarding in itself. As Alexios, you get to shape the future of the Greek world with the choices you make and the battles you chose to fight.
Naval battles can be a tad bit frustrating and annoying in some parts wherein they keep repeating and there is not much novelty there apart from what was prevalent in Blackflag. You can also take part in conquest battles which are like full pitched battlefields and scores of soldiers on each side. The collectibles, random loot, weapon and armor hunting with their enchantments and upgrades with runes is also intuitively designed so as to maximize potential of each armor and weapon setting.
The wildlife in the forests and mountains of Odyssey is breath taking and can be challenging at times when you meet those on the higher side of your skill set. Horse riding, fast travels by synchronization points, inventory system and agility to climb and traverse any surfaces in the hallmark of an AC game. Odyssey excels in engaging you up to over a 100 hours easily and the scenery in breath taking.
