It's over after about 30 minutes, but those are some action-packed 30 minutes alright.

Contra is pretty awesome that's just how it is, the only 2D shooter in the same style that can rival it is the Metal Slug series, which I like better. But anyway, Contra ReBirth is a great Virtual Console title that's well worth a check. It's basic, classic, old-school Contra. You run sideways blasting away, jumping over obstacles, fighting huge bosses. This game is a lot easier than many of the other Contra games, but not to worry, as usual, one hit and you're dead still goes here, if you as much as touch an enemy, it doesn't matter, it could be a small enemy, you're dead. So the purists should be pleased. The game has 5 stages, the first 3 are by far the best. The bosses are the best part of the game, they are huge and deadly, a few are quite easy, others are really challenging.
Actually, the best part is the co-op multiplayer. That's always a huge deal for me on wether or not I should get a game. It has co-op you say? Sign me in. The storyline is complete nonsense, but who cares? It's all about the action. Luckily there are no "overhead" sections like in Contra 3, I hated those. I'll try to make this "review" short, just like the game. I finished the game in 30 minutes, but there is always the hard difficulty and unlockable characters to come back to. And the co-op multiplayer is a lot of fun. Contra ReBirth delivers the action and is well worth checking out. But again, be warned, it can be finished in about 30 minutes.
