Nostalgia and topical humor make for a fun and easy jaunt through your childhood.

User Rating: 8.5 | Costume Quest X360
Costume Quest has some repetition, let's get that out of the way. The game is basically structured in a flow of mechanics that you play through three times (four if you buy the Grubbins on Ice expansion) with a final boss at the end. I say let's get that out of the way because it's blatant and potentially a deal breaker. Having pointed out this flaw, I will say it felt worth my time. I found the game humorous, with plenty of simple yet adult statements if you talk to the children you meet. The game is more about dialog and putting yourself back in younger shoes for a few hours. The jokes and situations seemed inspired, the mechanics a hodge-podge of familiar yet fun things, and the achievements were straight forward. You will find no real challenge here, but I found myself enjoying the time spent and I believe that was the entirety of Double Fine's goals.
