While an admirable attempt at creating it's own path, this halfhearted attempt at a god of war clone falls short.

User Rating: 7 | Dante's Inferno: Shinkyoku Jigoku-Hen PS3
To say that the story of Dante's Inferno was uninteresting would be lying. The setting carries the narrative on it's back and the result is a visual tour de force that leaves the senses tingling. However, once the novelty of Hell wears off, all your left with is a game that tries to and ultimately falls short of it's source of inspiration.

After finishing this game, I'm left empty. The combat works fluidly and the controls are effective, but something seems to lack polish or that certain spark that makes some games good and others can't miss classics. Dante's tries to be controversial with the amount of nudity present. In the end however it's all window dressing and the game doesn't live up to the lofty scope it sets for itself.

At the end of the day this game is playable and you can immerse yourself in the setting to provide some thrilling experiences, but don't expect to have your socks knocked off or to be blown away.
