What were they thinking?

User Rating: 5.5 | Dead Space Ignition X360
Graphics: 5/10 The graphics are boring and uninspired. The animation in the cutscenes is even worse-- Visceral could have featured full animation and not just partial movements of the characters and their faces.

Sound: 10/10 There's really nothing to complain about with the sound, though. The voice acting is good, and the sound effects from the first Dead Space game are present.

Control: 5/10 The control is solid. But in such a limited game, that's really not saying much.

Content: 2/10 The game is composed of minigames-- all of the ones I've played are boring. The cutscenes could have been carried out in a much better manner if they had been live-action rather than comic.

After the great experience of the first game and the great anticipation for the second, Visceral dropped the ball on this one. As a promotion and gap-bridger between the two games, the only reasons you'll want to finish this game (if you can persevere) are for the story and achievements.

When such a failure as this appears, it brings to mind great promotional material of the past, such as the webisodes for Alan Wake. I can't wait for Dead Space 2 to come out. It's going to be awesome. And I've added another reason to my list of reasons for anticipating it-- so that I can forget Ignition's poor attempt at promotional material.
