Fantasy Wars gets a new skin

Call this game Fantasy Wars II. For those of you who played Fantasy Wars, you can stop reading because you know based on your experience with that game whether this game is for you or not.

For those of you who have not played Fantasy Wars this game is an old school turn-based combat game with hexes etc. This game is all about the right mix of units. There is somewhat of a rock, paper, scissors to this game. I won't say it's impossible to win without the right mix of units, but it's certainly more difficult. This game is for people who like strategy, tactics, and having time to carefully plan and consider the composition, positioning, and tactics of your fantasy armies.

You don't play a game like this for the graphics and/or sound, but don't take that to mean the graphics and sound are not good in either this game or Fantasy Wars. For this type of game I think the graphics and sound are quite good. They just don't have the wow factor of some games that are built around high-end graphics. This is game where gameplay is enhanced by the graphcis and sound vs. the other way around (e.g. vs. a shooter with highend graphics where the graphics are as important as the game as the game is designed to showcase your high-end system and graphics).

Bottom line: If you love old school turn-based games like Fantasy Wars, Heroes of Might and Magic, Disciples, etc. (as I do) then you'll certainly like this game. If you prefer the standard RTS model where combat is more of a real time affair and you have to build bases and gather resources etc., you may still enjoy this game, but I'd try a demo first.
