User Rating: 7 | Excite Truck WII
Excite Truck was one of the first games that was released for the Wii in 2006. Although the controls are well done, the entire package still feels greatly limited.

The presentation is pretty straight forward. You have your tutorial, multiplayer, options, and single player career modes. In tutorial, you will learn how to steer, and make gaps in jumps, etc. In career mode, you choose a car and you try to win the most star points. Your performance of your tricks and final position will determine whether you will advance to the next stage. What this means is if you're in first place, you earn more star points. There is also another single player mode where you try to collect the most rings.

The graphics look fantastic on the Wii. Everything looks colorful and bright for the most part. Also, the dirt roads are very detailed, but not as detailed as PS3 and Xbox 360 graphics. The realistic water effects make a returning welcome. It may not look as realistic as Need for Speed Carbon, but the slightly animated and detailed environments have been well designed.

The music on the other hand is not that great. It's just basically generic rock n roll. It does kind of fit for this type of game, but there could have been a greater variety of music. The sound effects are really spot on, and they are slightly noisy.

The controls are very tight and responsive. You can press the D-pad to gain more speed. Think of it as using Nitrous in Need for Speed. On the other hand, whenever you crash into a wall or bump into other cars, your vehicle will sometimes flip out on you. After that happens, you keep pressing the A button to get back on track.

Overall, this racing game is fun and entertaining, but the limited multiplayer and extra game modes prevent this game from being a top notch racer. Shamefully, there is no online play, and it only goes up to two players in the muliplayer modes. It should of went up to four players.
