No substance

User Rating: 4 | Far Cry 6 PC

Good

- the characters, voice acting, dialogue, and cutscenes were great. The premise was kind of interesting.

- the world looks great. Pretty graphics, and a decent amount of detail as expected from a Far Cry game.

- They stopped using the player as the protagonist (mute protagonist) like in FC5. Dani is actually a really interesting character, which a strong personality I can get behind.

- if you are in the mood to feel like rambo or terminator. Taking over posts and combat can be fun, since you are basically play super aggro especially if you're using mouse and key board, and just head shot everything immediately. This was basically the only times where I felt like booting this game up to play: when I just wanted to run and gun and go on a killing spree without much thought. It's why it took me forever to beat it. If I wanted a strategic and through provoking gaming session, Far Cry 6 was the last thing on my mind.

Bad

- the gameplay is way too repetitive. All of it just consists of going to one area, clear out the guards in the area and secure the target. This wasn't exactly a short game either, so it got tedious fast.

- the villain is lackluster. The protagonist doesn't meet him until much later, which doesn't add enough tension to the narrative between the two. Anton is very low key in his expressiveness compared to the villains in far cry 3, 4, and 5. Those villains were crazy and unpredictable. But Anton is just heartless and ruthless, but in a very boring way.

- the ending is underwhelming. Very anti-climatic. Felt it was ramping up in the last few missions, but quickly fizzled out cause of what happened.

- calling a ride takes too long. It takes too long for the driver to get out of the car to let me in. This slowed the pace a bit for no good reason.

- there was no use for other weapons nor much of the upgrades when playing on PC, as all enemy can die to 1 headshot. They should've added some heavy enemies that will not die to a headshot, to make stealth actually a little bit more challenging, like it was in FC3.

- Anton's son was a really interesting character as he defied the dictator, but he hardly has any presence in the game besides cutscenes portraying more or less the same thing, that he's not happy with how his dad is so cruel. The story could have been much richer if he had more interactions with Dani, or had more interactions with Libertad. It's a missed opportunity.

- having to switch between flesh ammo and armor piercing ammo is very annoying. As weapon switching isn't fast. Having to do that in battle, meant I needed to go into cover constantly or just stay near cover, or just tank damage. This overall killed the pace of the combat.

- there was no reason to hunt wildlife and earn upgrades as mentioned earlier, 1 hit KO headshots meant there was no reason to change up weapons much. Hunting and upgrading was done so well in Far cry 3 and 4. They basically obsoleted it in 5 and 6.

- this game probably had a huge budget on VA talent. Too bad it's ruined by the lackluster plot and scenarios that these characters were put into.

- there's no hallucination sections that I liked a lot like in far cry 3, 4, 5.
