Poll Should the ESRB switch to numbers? (9 votes)
Should the ESRB switch to a number system instead of letters? 6+ for E, 10+ for E10, etc, I think they would be easier to understand.

No numbers. No age-related terms. Just put the content there and let the parent decide if it is suitable for their child.
One is as good as the other. The ESRB system was meant as a sort of pastiche of the MPAA ratings for movies, so it's not like the idea is unfounded. Also, while most countries use numbers, we're not the only country that doesn't. Japan's CERO rating system goes A B C D Z, with A being softest and Z being strictest.
I mean, it makes sense and many ratings systems in other countries do stuff like that already. I wonder if the ESRB hasn't gone this route because of it possibly hindering sales... I mean, I don't even know if that would affect them but I can see a "17+" box on the cover grabbing attention more easily than the current "M" that might make some parents actually realize what they're buying.
I think they should fuse with the MPAA and create a uniform media rating system.
Music too shouldn't just say "explicit", it should say 11 tracks about sex, etc.
