The golden age of TV is pretty much dead we are in the streaming wars era more people are watching streaming then cable TV. The golden age started in 1999 with the show the Sopranos I would say it ended this year with Better Call Saul on AMC you could argue it ended a couple of years before that I guess. But I would say 2022 because it was the first year streaming beat cable. So what are your favorite shows from that era these shows would of started on TV not streaming. 1999- 2022.

Here's are my favorite shows from that era granted some of them aren't top tier shows but I enjoyed them. What are yours?

  • The Sopranos
  • Third Watch
  • 24
  • Twilight Zone 2002 version
  • Tru Calling
  • The Office
  • Prison Beak
  • Dexter
  • Burn Notice
  • Breaking Bad
  • Parks and Recreation
  • Terriers
  • Black Mirror
  • Mr. Robot
  • Better Call Saul

I'm sure there's some I'm forgetting.

Great list, OP. A personal favorite I'd add Scrubs.

I'm not sure if I agree w/ that timeline of the golden age of TV when the 90s was absolutely bonkers w/ big hits like Seinfeld, Friends, Martin, X Files, and so many more.

I agree that there was awesome shows before The Soporanos but officially the Golden era started with that show.

  • X-Files (awesome show, I didn't like the second movie. thought it didn't really fit with the rest of the series)
  • Simpsons (until about season 8. After that it they started making Homer into a fucking moron. Seasons 9-12 were okay, but it was just crap after that)
  • Family Guy (first 4-5 seasons, after that it's not very good)
  • House
  • Futurama
  • Psych
  • Burn Notice

TV? I hardly knew her😢

But all jest aside, the 90s is where I fell in love with shows I grew up but most of the time, it was cartoons/animes that got me hook up and lots of action shows. I have a big list so be ready.

Cartoons/Animations:

  • Transformers cartoon series
  • Beast Wars Transformers
  • Justice League
  • Spider-Man the animation series
  • Batman the Animation series
  • Superman the animation series
  • Green Lantern
  • Futurama
  • Simpsons (early seasons before it went downhill)
  • King of the Hill
  • Duckman (someone please bring this show back)
  • Archer
  • Pink Panther
  • Tom & Jerry classic
  • Tiny Toon Adventures
  • Loony Tunes
  • Family Guy

RL shows:

  • Family Matters
  • Full House
  • Married with Children
  • Sopranos
  • Smallville (the only good origin Superman show)
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  • Burn Notice
  • Being Human
  • Heroes
  • X-Files
  • Star Trek TNG
  • Sons of Anarchy
  • American Horror Story
  • Night Rider
  • Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles (consider the best Term saga after T2 Judgment Day)
  • Criminal Minds
  • Law & Order: SVU

Man that show was so good that's one of those cancellations that still bother me after all these years.

I've never really been one to sit down and watch TV shows in their entirety to begin with. Growing up, I was more into films. But, here's a handful that come to mind that I'd watch alongside family members:

  • Everwood
  • Two and a Half Men
  • Everybody Loves Raymond
  • The Nanny
  • X-Files
  • Boston Legal
  • Charmed
  • Roswell

Admittedly, I'm somewhat of a fan despite the characters and humour in general being ditzy at times. It's kind of homely to me, lol.
