I live in a major metropolitan area and there is a high end fancy mall close by. I don’t really like the place, it’s pretentiousness encased in walls and concrete, there are queues and velvet rope barriers for the Chanel and Louis Vuitton stores, the Neiman Marcus is still open despite the company being bankrupt but the place has good restaurants which is the sole reason to go.

I recently went there for dinner with my dog mistress and I lost count of how many people were wearing sunglasses in there at 8:00 at night. I was sorely tempted to slap the glasses from their faces and toss them over the railing like Judge Dredd but unfortunately conceited people have rights.

So why sunglasses indoors at daytime and nighttime?

They’re either blind or douchebags. In any case I give them lots of room.

Edit: or could be black eye(s), eye infection or something medically/cosmetically embarrassing.

Three reasons:

1. They want to people watch without getting caught.

2. They forgot their glasses carrier and don't want them getting scratched in their pocket.

3. They're douchebags and think it makes them look cool

Of course, their is a fourth reason, and that is they are secret service/G-men/spies/etc. RUN!

In my case, while I don't wear them indoors often, when I do it's just because they're graduated and I have eye fatigue.

My sunglasses have corrective lenses, so if I don't have the regular glasses on me and have to go inside for some reason, there is no choice but to keep the sunglasses on, otherwise I wouldn't see anything.

Not necessarily bad people. I have a few friends that do that . They just don't really understand it makes them look bad.

@rmpumper: you need regular glasses.

How come you got corrective sunglasses before regular glasses?

Huh? I have both, but if I go for a walk I only need the sunglasses, why would I take the regular ones with me? And if something comes up that I have to go indoors, there's nothing else to do but to keep the sunglasses on.

Stoned, high, drunk... Or, yes, 😎 a douche.

Maybe all four. Who's to say. You'll never know, because they're wearing sunglasses.

I’m not going to give people a pass.

Most of them don’t have eye problems, they’re straight up dooshbags with no self awareness who think sunglasses indoors is the greatest thing ever.

Always the best policy. Let them know you're nipping that nonsense in the bud before they start taking liberties.

i'm curious if using the term "dog mistress" is more douchbag than wearing sunglasses inside at the mall.

No idea. They are just weird. What's even weirder is people wearing sunglasses outside at night.

I remember an old lady in her 50s or 60s wore sunglasses at night time. Really weird and strange. Apparently she has a bad temper.

It's only ok if you're playing poker or welding. Perhaps a few other exceptions.. either way it doesn't bother me. I'm sure I've forgotten to take my shades off a few times coming from outside in Walmart or best buy or something.

I could see wearing sunglasses inside if you are sensitive to light or legally blind.

For style, or they're blind, or perhaps their pupils are dilated because they're on drugs, or they're cops.

I wasn’t aware that using sunglasses at night upset people. Another reason to use them I guess.

Because they were wearing them outside and their eyes are now used to it so they don't care if they remain on.

I get migraines so I am used to having them on me.

This is most cases. I have an oops moment when I take off my sunglasses after leaving them on while talking to people indoors.
