My video card went months without being cleaned of dust, And when I played a game, The temp would consistantly hit 88c, And that was with the side panel removed, the fan at max speed, And the room temp at 65f. After I removed all the dust that was clogging the heatsink, The temps haven't gone above 67c. I should really be more careful, Or my video card could fry :?

the first time I cleaned my Radeon 9800pro the fan and heat since had so much dust in it I had to use tweezers to get it all out, compressed air would do the trick... it was pretty disgusting really. Now i clean it every couple of months.

WOW... 88c is pretty hot. You could fry an egg on that.

Meh, I just changed from a PC with a 6800GT the idles at 72C and hits 105 while playing games before artefacts appear. I'll see if I can fix it over the weekend but my guess is it's dead.

That's likely the temp my card would have hit if I didn't have the side panel off the case.
