I wish I could stay on Windows 7 forever I don't know how Microsoft gets away with forced updates on Windows 10 and yes I know if you have the pro edition you can pause the updates for months but that's not good enough. I have the home edition and I don't even have those options. I have to go through the damn registry and turn them off and that might not even work anymore. Windows 7 support has dropped this year and less games in the future will be supporting 7 so I have no choice to upgrade to 10. I just don't get how MS can get away with forcing updates and not getting sued when there has been numerous cases of them being problematic to say the least call me crazy but I would take Vista over this shit anyday.

Yeah, I'm bummed about it too. I'm looking into upgrading my rig, or maybe just doing a whole new build this year, and I'm finally gonna have to get 10. Not looking forward to it. Been using the same copy of 7 for like 10 years. Transferred from my old laptop, to a cheap desktop build, then again to my current system.

genuine question: what is so bad about Windows 10?

What advantages does Windows 7 offer?

Windows 7 is definitely better privacy wise so that's the point that I agree with TC. Others, I don't really agree. I prefer Windows 10 looks over Windows 7 and it does run fine now today then it did for launch when I upgrade for free. But then again, W7 was just another whole mess by itself, albeit a familiar one and certainly one that could be tamed. W10 is a perpetual out-of-control mess to some. My impression was that W7 got very close to being a solid OS, and MS should have continue to refine it, but instead, they ditched it completely and went off to reinvent the wheel which most PC users says W7 is the best. The only real reason for me to move to W10 is because MS put things about games on it, like the new Gamepass or even Direct X12.

And here's another thing, if you was running on an old HDD and you upgrade to W10, it would operate slow and W10, you needed SSD to run things smoothly. Force updates and spyware is also another factor but all of that has change and MS doesn't force users to update now and you can turn off data sending to MS HQ. All in all, W10 has been seeing improvements, I never look back on W7.

Get W10 Enterprise LTSC. With full control of Group Policy you can make Windows do whatever you want. I bought mine on vipkeysales for like $13 and love it. The start menu is bare bones with no apps, no Cortana or any crap on it. I only get critical and security updates without any of their feature crap or experimental BS. It's lighter and more solid. Shame MS doesn't sell this for consumers but I guess they have an agenda like everyone else.

I actually think it's a good they force an upgrade all things considered. Win10 is at least as good as Win7 after some minor configuring.

Windows is a load of bloated malware, biggest pile of shit in history. Privacy is a basic human right, never using it.

Other than the privacy issues (and I'll grant that's HUGE for some people), Win10 is equal to or better than 7. It's fine. In fact, almost every version of Windows has been "shit" in its own way. 7 was, admittedly, not bad. But it's ancient now, to the point that security isn't the only concern with it.

Just do it. It only hurts a little.
