I have Verizon DSL, Yesterday I had no connection whatsoever ,A tech came out and got me a connection today. I get home and find my internet extremly slow 400-900KB/s. I have a 1.5mb connect....soon to be 3mb if this is ever fixed. They basicly say that a tech will come by next week or I can call and pay to have a new modem shipped to me becuase they don't know what the problem is.  As you can imagine, I am not pleased, I find it hard to live without the internet. Many here may laugh....But It is no laughing matter, I bet many of you would feel the same way.

Any ideas what could be the matter?

If it is not fixed, I may switch to the similar and slightly more expensive 5mb Cable Plan

Also My Family has to rent, Is there a HUGE differerce between 5mb/s and 20mb/s  for most things.

Providers measure their speeds in bits instead of bytes to make it look bigger

um...depends on if they can deliver content at those speeds...you might see a difference with P2P since you have multiple connections or if you have tons of users on your network who like to downloads stuff 24/7

I have a 5mb Cable connection, All I can say is that I never lose connection, and that its worth every penny.
