Hi All,

I am struggling to run Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 on my PC on Low which has an RTX 2060. My specs are as follows, do you know what the problem is?

Intel Core i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz

Installed Memory: 8GB RAM

Windows 10 64-bit

Gigabyte GPU NV RTX2060 Windforce OC 6GB Fan

Using HDD rather than SSD

Even on Low settings, although most of the take-off and flight were smooth, the landing in SFO (San Fran) became really laggy, down to 1fps for a while, and was stuttering after that as well.

On medium the game is unplayable.

Do you know what the issue is? I though my PC met the recommended requirements.

EDIT: I've just updated my graphics card driver, which apparently includes optimisation for FS 2020, so hopefully that helps.

There are more qualified people than myself on here, but I would argue your CPU, memory, and use of HDD are what is hurting your performance.

Dang. This really is the new Crysis. I'll have to check out MSFS when I have a computer that can run it. Maybe around 2032.

Its your cpu.... The game needs 8 threads to be optimal. Right now its using DX11, later on DX12 will be patched in.Right now one core gets hammered feeding the gpu while the rest are doing other things. With DX12 all cores will be able to feed the gpu.

DX12 will help some but your cpu is too old these days.

@polarwrath11: You'll want to upgrade the CPU to newest i5 10600K ain't worth going over that for this game

Your GPU is fine unless you're playing at 2K then you'll need 3080 for 60fps.

Also I'd upgrade to 16Gb of RAM fastest speed you can afford, it's not must if you play at 1080p but then again you won't be able to do multitasking such as browsing while gaming etc.
